Welcome to the new Paris, TN Branch Seminary site! As we begin the new seminary school year and our study of the Book of Mormon, I invite all of you (students and parents alike) to visit this site often, comment on thoughts you've had as you study and learn, and read the comments of others who are doing the same. I do ask that as you participate in these comments/discussions that you remember to "Strengthen your brethren in every conversation." This will also be a place to help you keep up with where you should be in your studies, and a place to post announcements and (heaven forbid) cancellations.
Last evening we gathered for our first class where the materials for this year were distributed. We reviewed the Plan of Happiness, reviewed how to take full advantage of all that the scriptures offer us by using the footnotes, etc., and participated in a brief overview of the Book of Mormon. Early morning students are participating in the same throughout the week.
At our Seminary and Institute training meeting held on August 8th 2009, Brother Halverson reminded us of the effort it took to simply engrave what was to be written upon the metal plates. The prophet Jacob even stated that "I cannot write but a little of my words, because of the difficulty of engraving our words upon plates..." It would have been quicker and easier to write upon something that would have never lasted the span of time, but the Lord had instructed them to engrave them on plates for our benefit. Just as the prophets of old had the responsibility to engrave them on plates, we have a responsibility to engrave them on our hearts. And just as it required work to engrave them the first time, it requires an active study (work) to engrave them on our hearts. As we study this sacred record that testifies of Jesus Christ, of His divinity and of His miraculous atonement and redemption of all mankind it is my hope that we truly will engrave these things on our hearts, never to be erased. And that as Mormon expresses on the title page we will come to know more fully "the covenants of the Lord, that we are not cast off forever..." and more fully understand "that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD."
May God bless us all as we follow his commandment to study the words of the prophets.

Hey y'all! How cool is this?! It was a pleasure to be with you Sunday night to talk about the Book of Mormon. Just reading your posts here have given me more "animo" (that's Spanish for excitement) about the this coming year. You all rock! Dig in and have fun with your study of the Book. Remember, it will change your life! I can't wait to read more as the year goes on. It will be fun to visit your class soon. Helaman 5:12 baby! REMEMBER!
I thought it wasnt fair that everyone else has to get up in the morning to do early morning seminary..i know it sounds crazy..so during my spare time in the morning I have been reading. I even got up early yesterday morning just to work on seminary.
I love starting the night off with scripture masterys...it sets the mood for me.
My altime favorite scripture is 1 Nephi 3:7 and i always enjoy dicussing it.
I love your attitude Rachel!!!! Have I told you lately that YOU ROCK!
even though i have been traveling to 4 diffrent states this past week i still have been working on seminary. Nephi is such a special person to me because no matter how many things he went through he still never gave up on the Lord and what the Lord told him to do. Also in his brothers how negitive they were towards him and the Lord. He was always praying for his brothers and thats what family is for, they need you as much as you need them. I have never enjoyed seminary as much as i do now (even though its alot of work) i like doing the work and being there to feel the spirt. :)
Can't wait til ya'll are back Kourtnie! I'm so excited that you're lovin seminary...it's going to be an awesome year!
even though i havent been to class in 2 weeks because of traveling i am lovin the seminary work we have to do i have never flipped through my scriptures that many times looking for all the answers and reading. i always pick the one where u have to do the most reading i just want to keep on reading to find out more. cant wait til wednesday!!!!
i really enjoyed seminary this morning. it was a little hard in some spots but thats what the whole thing is about and how you can learn form just flipping through the scriptures and reading about them. Nephi was such a strong faithful person and to go through the things like he did you can truly tell that the love for the lord was strong and amazing. cant wait for tonight! :)
I LOVE seminary its soo fun i want to do more of it i wish we could do it every morning! thats how much i love it! cant wait til class today! :)
